About Your Instructor
Adrian Riley
Built in the field. Proven at scale. Designed for the reality of modern Account Management.
Your instructor brings more than 12 years of experience building, leading and transforming Account Management organisations across international SaaS and technology businesses.
Throughout his career, he has been responsible for hundreds of millions in customer revenues, built and scaled international Account Management teams, and worked directly with C-suite leaders and frontline teams across FTSE-listed companies, global enterprises and some of the world's most recognised brands.
His experience spans high-growth SaaS, AI, machine learning, data and complex enterprise technology — environments where protecting revenue, demonstrating value and finding the next opportunity aren't theoretical exercises; they're commercial expectations.
Having consistently delivered 120%+ net revenue retention, 95%+ gross revenue retention and double-digit expansion growth, while navigating transformation, acquisitions, economic disruption and rapidly changing customer expectations.
That experience sits at the heart of AMP.
This isn't account management taught from a textbook. Participants get practical frameworks, real-world scenarios and proven approaches shaped by what actually happens when you're responsible for the relationship, the outcome and the number.
From earning executive access and proving customer value to identifying growth signals, navigating complex stakeholder groups and turning strong relationships into commercial outcomes, the focus is simple:
Give Account Managers the thinking, tools and confidence to create more value — for their customers, their business and themselves.

AMP is a self-directed digital learning experience designed to fit around the realities of managing a portfolio of customers.
The programme combines video-led learning, practical exercises, real-world scenarios, downloadable tools and frameworks, and module assessments to help translate learning into everyday Account Management practice.
Rather than simply consuming content, you'll be encouraged to apply what you learn to the customers, opportunities and challenges you already manage.
Throughout the programme, we'll explore areas including:
understanding customers beyond the CRM;
defining, measuring and articulating value;
stakeholder mapping and executive engagement;
curiosity and continuous discovery;
account strategy and prioritisation;
internal orchestration;
commercial acumen;
identifying and developing growth opportunities;
negotiation and commercial conversations;
risk identification and mitigation;
renewal strategy;
forecasting and opportunity control; and
building the behaviours of high-performing Account Managers.
Supporting resources can be downloaded and used beyond the training itself, giving you practical tools to inform account strategy, customer conversations, planning and your day-to-day approach to Account Management.
The objective isn't simply to learn AMP.
It's to use it.
-
You don't need to be an expert Account Manager to take AMP.
You will, however, get considerably more from the programme if you understand the environment in which you operate.
Before starting, we'd recommend being familiar with:
Your business.
Understand what your organisation sells, how it creates value, where it differentiates and broadly how it makes money.Your customers.
Know the organisations you manage, why they work with you, how they use your products or services and the challenges they're trying to solve.Your portfolio.
Have a working understanding of your accounts, their relative importance, upcoming renewals, known risks and existing opportunities.Your commercials.
You don't need to be a finance expert, but you should understand the basic commercial mechanics of your accounts: contract value, renewal dates, key terms, consumption or service commitments where relevant, and how growth might occur.Your stakeholders.
Think beyond your primary contact. Who uses your proposition? Who influences decisions? Who owns budgets? Who benefits from the value you create? And who might have a different perspective on the relationship?Most importantly, bring real examples with you.
Think about the difficult renewal. The stakeholder you can't seem to reach. The customer everyone describes as healthy but you're not completely convinced about. The opportunity that hasn't moved. The account consuming too much of your time. The customer where you struggle to articulate the value you're delivering.
AMP becomes considerably more powerful when you continually ask:
How does this apply to my accounts?
-
AMP is designed to accommodate different levels of experience.
If you're relatively new to Account Management, the programme will help establish the foundations, behaviours and operating rhythm required to manage customers effectively.
If you're more experienced, the challenge changes.
You'll be encouraged to question established habits, examine how you make decisions, identify assumptions within your portfolio and develop a more strategic and commercially informed approach to your accounts.
Experience is valuable.
But experience and best practice aren't always the same thing.
AMP isn't designed to dismiss the methodologies, processes or experience you already have. It's designed to give you another lens through which to examine them.
-
Always be the value-add.
You'll learn how to understand an account more deeply, identify what matters, distinguish evidence from assumption and make better decisions about where to focus your time.
You'll explore how to recognise and articulate value from different stakeholder perspectives; how to identify risk before a renewal becomes a rescue mission; how to create commercially credible growth opportunities; and how to orchestrate the wider resources of your organisation without becoming responsible for executing everything yourself.
Throughout the programme, we'll repeatedly return to several AMP principles:
Stay curious.
Operate with empathy.
Orchestration is a superpower.
Don't hope. Evidence.
Time is not on your side.
Think customer and commercial.
And above all:
Always be the value-add.
-
No.
Commercial thinking is an important part of Account Management, and AMP doesn't shy away from revenue, margin, growth, negotiation, forecasting or commercial accountability.
But Account Management isn't simply selling to customers who have already bought something.
Existing relationships contain history, expectations, delivered value, unrealised value, advocates, detractors, contractual commitments and accumulated experience.
AMP explores how to operate within that environment.
Established methodologies such as MEDDICC, BANT and SPIN can continue to be valuable tools. AMP provides a complementary methodology focused specifically on the ongoing commercial relationship.
-
Both — deliberately.
Some concepts need to be understood before they can be applied. But watching somebody explain Account Management isn't the same as becoming better at it.
You'll therefore encounter scenarios, questions and exercises designed to make you apply the principles being discussed.
You'll also be encouraged to take selected approaches back into your own portfolio.
That might mean reassessing a stakeholder map, investigating a customer's market, reconsidering how you articulate value, examining an opportunity, reviewing a renewal timeline or questioning how you're allocating your time.
The customer information remains yours.
The learning comes from applying the thinking.
-
Yes.
Throughout the programme you'll encounter short assessments and knowledge checks designed to confirm understanding of the material and reinforce the principles covered within each stage of the course.
These aren't designed to catch you out.
They're there to answer a more useful question:
Did you understand it well enough to apply it?
Depending on the module, assessment may include knowledge checks, scenario-based questions and practical decision-making exercises.
Progress through the required learning and assessments contributes towards successful course completion.
-
Yes.
Participants who successfully complete the required programme content and assessments will receive an AMP course completion certificate recognising that they have completed the programme.
The completion certificate confirms participation and successful completion of the required learning journey.
As AMP develops, additional assessment and accreditation pathways may also be available for participants wishing to demonstrate a higher level of applied capability.
-
AMP is designed to be completed, applied and revisited rather than rushed.
Access periods will vary according to the programme or package purchased, with selected options providing extended access to course materials and resources.
As a guide, standard individual access may provide up to six months of access, giving you time to progress through the learning at a sensible pace, revisit important concepts and apply what you've learned to real customer situations.
Your specific access period will be clearly shown when purchasing or enrolling.
-
Selected AMP tools, templates, frameworks and supporting materials will be available to download as part of the programme.
They're designed to become working resources rather than something you use once during training and forget.
Use them to prepare for conversations, challenge your thinking, structure account strategy and create greater consistency in how you manage your portfolio.
Availability of particular resources may vary by programme or package.
-
AMP is designed for people with customers to manage, targets to deliver and calendars that are already busy.
Learning is therefore divided into manageable sections that can be completed around your working commitments.
But don't confuse flexibility with passivity.
The greatest value won't come from how quickly you finish the videos. It will come from giving yourself enough time to think, complete the exercises and apply the ideas to your own accounts.
Sometimes the most valuable part of a module will happen after you've closed it and taken the question back into your working week.
-
Absolutely.
AMP isn't designed to replace everything your organisation already does.
Your CRM, sales methodology, account planning process, forecasting approach, customer lifecycle and internal operating model may all remain important.
AMP provides a way of thinking and operating across them.
The objective is to help you ask better questions, make better decisions and create greater value within the environment in which you already work.
-
AMP is primarily designed for Account Managers and individual contributors responsible for ongoing commercial customer relationships.
Depending on how your organisation defines roles, that may include Strategic Account Managers, Key Account Managers, Enterprise Account Managers, Commercial Account Managers, Relationship Managers and other professionals carrying responsibility for retaining and developing customer relationships.
Job titles differ.
The fundamental challenge doesn't:
How do you become more valuable to the customer while creating sustainable commercial value for your own organisation?
-
AMP isn't designed to make you busier.
It's designed to make you more deliberate.
You should leave the programme asking better questions of your customers and yourself.
You'll think differently about which accounts deserve your attention, distinguish activity from genuine account movement, recognise risk earlier and become more deliberate about stakeholder relationships.
You'll have a stronger understanding of value, commercials, renewals and opportunity — and greater clarity about when to act, when to challenge, when to orchestrate and when to step back.
Ultimately, the question we want every AMP-trained Account Manager to carry into their working day is remarkably simple:
How do I add value here?
If that question changes how you approach the next conversation, account, opportunity or decision, AMP is already doing its job.
